Barbianer Keschtnweg – circular hike

Route:

An easy and beautiful hike takes you along the Chestnut Trail to the village of Barbiano. With an elevation difference of 30 meters, this 3-kilometer route is perfect for children and also suitable for strollers. If you wish to continue walking, you can head to Bad Dreikirchen, Briol, or the Barbiano Waterfall.

Barbian waterfall

Route:

From Gasserhof, the path follows along the Saubach to the Panoramabrücke Barbian. From there, you can either take the slightly steeper path upwards or continue along the road and then turn right into Almstraße. Follow the blue-white markings on the asphalted road and turn at the third hairpin, passing by Judhof until you reach the waterfalls.

Dreikirchen

Route: The hamlet of Bad Dreikirchen, consisting of three Gothic chapels closely built together at an altitude of 1120 meters, belongs to the municipality of Barbiano in the Eisacktal. From the Raiffeisen Bank in Barbiano village, trail number 11 leads upwards to the asphalt road, then continues on a short cobblestone path towards the fitness trail - passing by the sports zone until reaching the forest road. Follow this road until you reach Drei Kirchen. The return is through a picturesque forest path, trail number 6, passing by Wieserhof towards the sawmill. Follow the blue-white markings, passing Lukashof, and return to Barbiano.

Mountain hike to
Rittner Horn

Route:

From the center of Barbiano (830 m), the route follows the trail marked 3 via Kleinebner to Trögler, then continues to Kaserol and Nixenteich up to Nigglalm on the Rittner Horn (2,259 m). On the way back, follow the trail marked 1 to Unterhornhaus, then trail 3A to Pennleger, continue on the marked route to Kuhleite, and down to Rastall to Kohlgrube. The trail continues to Katzensprung and the Upper Waterfall, then to Oberstieger, up to Lukashof, and back to Barbiano.
